Role & Timeline
Role & Timeline
As this was course work for a web design & development class, I led the design myself, focusing on redesigning 4 pages of the RASC Edmonton site, while keeping web development in mind as the latter half of the project involved making the design come to life with code. I started the project in October and finished the design work in November, finishing up the coding aspect in December.

Challenge
Challenge
RASC Edmonton’s current site was outdated, with no design updates for several years. The homepage was overcrowded with a design that was focused on an updates feed first, not properly optimized to serve the public and club members using the site.
Research
Research
To further understand the issues, I defined two different user groups and identified their goals when using the site. I then made notes of what need to be changed on each page I was redesigning.

Approach
Approach
I addressed the homepage overcrowding by redesigning the sitemap and removing unnecessary elements. This allowed me to create a homepage that tells a clearer story about the organization, featuring an about section and a join button for prospective members. I kept the updates section on the homepage, placing it just below the about section. I also retained essential elements for club activity, such as quick access to the member's area.
For the interior pages, I focused on creating a more visually appealing and organized experience. My goal was to make the joining process more streamlined and informative for non-members while helping all users understand information more easily.
